FAQs
Q. What makes Gir Cow Ghee different from regular ghee?
A. The difference starts with the milk. Gir cows naturally produce only A2 beta-casein protein, which is considered easier to digest and more compatible with the human body. Most commercial ghee is made from mixed-breed or HF cow milk that contains A1 protein, which some studies link to inflammation and digestion issues. A2 Gir Cow Ghee is richer in omega-3 fatty acids, CLA, and fat-soluble vitamins (A, D, E, K) making it a healthier, more nourishing alternative.
Q. What is the texture and aroma of your Gir Cow Ghee like?
A. Our ghee has a danedar (granular) texture, a hallmark of traditionally made ghee. The aroma is rich, nutty, and slightly caramelized, a clear sign that it has been simmered patiently. Its colour is typically golden yellow, thanks to the beta-carotene naturally present in Gir cow milk.
Q. Can I give this ghee to babies or children?
A. Yes, Gir Cow Ghee is highly recommended for growing children. It provides essential fats for brain development, strengthens immunity, and aids digestion. For babies above 6 months, it can be added in small amounts to khichdi, porridge, or mashed food.
Q. Why is Gir Cow Ghee more expensive?
A. Gir cows produce only 4–6 litres of milk per day and require high-maintenance care including open grazing, organic fodder, Ayurvedic herbs, and gentle milking practices (after feeding the calf). Their health is managed naturally, without hormones or productivity boosters, which increases cost.
On top of that, we follow the Bilona method, where milk is turned to curd, hand-churned, and simmered, yielding very little ghee. The result is a nutrient-rich, ethically made ghee that reflects both quality and compassion.
